Welcome! First, I would like you to know that I am very happy to have the opportunity to share my style and system known as McCoy's Karate. There are many styles and systems of the martial arts. I have found over the years that the style you study makes very little difference. Bruce Lee once stated, "Because of styles people are separated." I have worked as a police officer and have found that a lot of the techniques that are taught today just don't work in real life street situations. The fact is when you are faced with a life or death situation you want something that is proven. McCoy's Karate has proven to be effective in most all situations. We have one central theme at McCoy's Karate....."Keep it Simple." I have studied okinawan, chinese, japanese, korean, and most recently brazilian systems. In all my years of research and comparing systems I have found that there are good techniques in all systems, but none of them are perfect.McCoy's Karate is a collection of all my years of training. It was developed for today's American Martial Artist. It is effective in the street for personal self defense. It also has been very effective for kickboxing and tournament karate. It is a style that is just as good on the ground as it is standing up. McCoy's Karate will prepare you for the ground and how to get back on your feet to defend yourself with a wide variety of basic, intermediate and advanced techniques. McCoy's Karate is a very balanced style of self-defense. This allows each individual to perform what he/she is capable of and to alter movements from left side to right side. Our seven katas were created so that every movement in every kata had a self-defense purpose. They were developed with the idea of no wasted movements. Our kata is our style plain and simple. As a BLACKBELT (master of the basics) it is time to start maturing as a martial artist not just physically but mentally. Work on developing the new YOU! Set no limitations on what you can become as a martial artist. Become a master of your own self. Remember, when it comes to defending yourself or your life. All that will matter is how well you have mastered your mind and your body, not someone else's style, system or tradition. It's all about YOU! Use McCoy's Karate as a bridge to cross from a basic martial artist to a martial arts expert specializing in techniques that suit you and your body type.
I hope you enjoy the exciting world of the martial arts and especially McCoy's Karate.
